Sliedrecht - Week 12

So this week has been CRAZY. But also one of the best weeks on my mission so far, strangely enough. We've seen so many small miracles. So on Monday we went to an investigators house for dinner. Their names are Miriam and Timmim and they are both from Afghanistan with some Muslim background. They are both really nice. I adore Miriam, she is so beautiful and incredibly kind. The food was delicious and she kept making us eat more which was hilarious and adorable. But during the appointment we recieved a call from President Bunnell that we couldn't answer, so afterwards we were TERRIFIED. WHY IS HE CALLING US? After the appointment we call him back and at first he's just talking to us about one of our investigators that he referred to us so we totally relaxed and thought that maybe that was the only reason why he called us. But then he says "I'm so glad that you had that opportunity. but now it's time to change some things." And we PANICK AHHH. It turns out that we're both getting emergency transferred to Breda, and thankfully we will be together, but the hard part is that we are going to be in a Four Woman so we'll be with Majors and Abbot in Breda. Thank goodness it's a big city! Sliedrecht is so small!! It's one of the most difficult places to be in our zone because it's been knocked out so many times. So they're going to close it again. There is a new Senior Couple coming in and apparently they were going to live in Rotterdam but it fell through, so now they're going to take our appartment. So I leave for Breda tomorrow, so this whole week was my last in Sliedrecht.

On Tuesday we went to District meeting and it's a bro district except for us. They were very excited to find out that there were now going to be girls but we got to tell them "welll actually this is the only time you'll see us before we become a bro district again..." That evening we had a dinner appointment in the middle of nowhere and we missed our bus so we had an hour to burn so we did some door knocking and this lady started shrieking at us from her apartment balcony and made us leave... It was super awkward... Everyone was outside and watching us and as she shrieked at us to leave the area and she kept yelling at us until we were out of sight. It was very humiliating but now it's mostly funny.

On Wednesday we went on a bike ride with Miriam, the girl from Afghanistan. We also biked SO MUCH that day... We biked ALL the way to Papendrecht where she lives, then with her all the way to dordrecht, and then afterwards we had bike all the way through Dordrecht to the train station (which was on the other side of where we were). It was crazy. That day we also met Dempsey to teach him a Restoration lesson in the park, and it was really funny because Dempsey totally fell in love with Zuster Parker. It was hilarious. He kept telling her how kind she was and asking what her first name was and he wanted to give her a hug and she was like "GEEN KNUFFLE". I was trying so hard not to laugh. I'm going to miss Dordrecht! Not really Sliedrecht to be honest but I absolutely love Dordrecht, and I was just getting to know the people here and make more friendships.

On Thursday we went to Maria's house, who is a less active and I totally love her. We speak English with her because she's from Argentina/Oklahoma (she's moved around a lot). She has three dogs that she absolutely adores, and she hated that we were leaving. As we left she started tearing up and crying a little bit which made me really sad because she pretends to be all tough. She lives alone and is generally a really grouchy lady but I adore her so much.

On Friday we met Miriam and Timmim again because Miriam invited us over for breakfast. She gave us WAY TOO MUCH food, and would keep putting more on our plates and insisting that we eat more and more. I love her so freaking much, she is so adorable. We taught them Het Evangelie van Jezus Christus. It's really interesting because people with Islamic background totally understand Joseph Smith being a prophet and things like that but they can't wrap their heads around Jesus and what his role is, and then with Christians they understand the role of Jesus and have a beautiful testimony of Him but then they don't understand why prophets are important. It's really interesting. As we were about to go, Miriam surprised us with these giant presents as we were leaving which was the SWEETEST thing ever. She gave us a bunch of snacks in these bags and I was so touched. Later that day, we went to see the Westenlocken family. Mirta just got her patriarchal blessing and it was so beautiful to come afterwards and listen to her testimony. Mirta and Nurri are these two amazing members that were baptized a year ago and basically make the Dordrecht ward famous. They are an amazing family and I'm sad to be leaving them. After that we biked over to Christina's to see her one last time and teach about the Book of Mormon, and she had these sandwiches and fruit made for us. We gave her this note that we made and drew for her and she read it and cried. It was so tender. I love Christina so much ;(

We also gave the Elders our drawings we made of Dorslie Assemble. It's all of us as Avengers and they were insistant on seeing it when I told them it was finished. They were laughing so hard, it's so ridiclious, but they also loved it!

On Saturday, it was fast Sunday and in general it was an awkward day because I tried to bear my testimony in dutch in front of the whole ward about the book of mormon (i'm proud of myself for trying at least) but it was really awkward and I was shaking so hard and it probably sounded ridicilous (actually I know it did). It was kind of a weird awkward day haha.

On now today is Monday! And I leave tomorrow for Breda. It's been a really good week.
